Honoring 31 years of service Published June 4, 2013 By James Branch 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Senior Master Sgt. Sheldon D. Smith, 94th Civil Engineering Flight superintendent, retired May 12 after 31 years of service to the U.S. Air Force. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Smith emigrated to Philadelphia, Pa., and enlisted in the Air Force as a services specialist at the age of 18. During his military career, Smith has been assigned to Colorado Springs, Co., Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland, Norway, Charleston, S.C., Germany, England, Montana, Massachusetts, and ended his career here. During Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm, he deployed to South West Asia, supporting NATO forces. Smith holds a Bachelors Degree in Business and Information Science from the University of Phoenix and an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering from the Community College of the Air Force.
