22nd Air Force vice CC visits Lockheed Martin

Brig. Gen. Curtis L. Williams, 22nd Air Force vice commander, visited Lockheed Martin's Marietta plant on June 3 as an orientation and overview to his duties as a senior 22nd AF official.

Williams assumed his position at the 22nd AF headquarters on Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. on April 21, where he assists the commander, Maj. Gen. Wallace "Wade" Farris Jr., in the management and oversight of more than 13,500 Air Force Reservists at 13 wings and a Flight Test Group.

With 149 unit-equipped aircraft, 22nd Air Force contributes daily to the Air Force's worldwide operational mission. Reserve aircrews within 22nd Air Force fly a variety of missions to include aerial spraying, fire suppression, hurricane hunters and troop transport utilizing the C-130 Hercules.

Williams toured the production facilities at Lockheed Martin that produce the C-130 J-model as well as the facilities that are re-tooling the C-5 Galaxy from A- or B-models to M-models.
