Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. – The 94th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron welcomed its new commander here May 5.

Maj. Wade G. Smith has been at Dobbins since last summer, when he took a position as operations officer for the 94th Maintenance Squadron.

“I’ve had the honor to serve with you for almost a year now, and I can say that based on that experience, it’s a great honor to be counted on by you,” said the new commander. “Your dedication, your desire to serve and your ability as maintainers is all very impressive.”

The 94th Maintenance Group commander, Col. André A. McMillian, presided over the assumption-of-command ceremony.

“When it came to being able to select the right commander to command this squadron, Maj. Smith was the right person at the right time,” said McMillian. “He has all of the qualifications and if you were to talk with him, he probably wouldn’t share a lot of his past, but I will tell you that looking at his record, it is absolutely outstanding.”

Accolades are frequent in Smith’s decorated military career. He was selected as company grade officer of the year at several of his past assignments and has received awards at multiple levels.

“We have a heck of an adventure ahead of us and I’m looking forward to it,” Smith said. “I love getting to know all of you; I love getting to see all of your strengths; and I kindly welcome you to the team.”
