Health and wellness was highlighted during a Fitness Fair at the Dobbins Fitness Center May 6, 2017.

More than 200 Reserve Citizen Airmen came to learn about the various aspects of health and wellbeing from multiple resource providers in a diverse range of fields from yoga, health and nutrition, and fitness to mental health and chaplains.

“This year’s focus is mind, body and spirit so I made sure we combined resources from all three to cover the overall wellbeing of the Airmen,” said Senior Master Sgt. Jackie Zawada, Force Support Squadron operations superintendent and the organizer of the event.

There are more than two thousand Reserve Citizen Airmen assigned to Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Part of being a Reserve Citizen Airman is to be combat ready at all times requiring constant mental and physical wellness.

“This event covered all aspects of wellness; mental, physical and spiritual which are key to maintaining a resilient combat ready force,” said Kenneth Duhart, 94th Airlift Wing exercise physiologist. “The rates of suicide in the Air Force Reserve are heartbreaking. Hopefully by educating Airmen about wellness and stress relief through mental, physical and spiritual outlets we can help.”

Zawada said she wants to have another fair in November and hopes to continue doing them twice a year.
