Col. Heath Nuckolls, 94th Airlift Wing commander, explains the significance of the unit coin tradition and the coin challenge to new inductees of the Honorary Commander's Association at Dobbins Air Reserve Base Jan 21.
Each year, approximately 25 civilians are paired with commanders and senior officers of military units stationed at Dobbins and Naval Air Station Atlanta. The Honorary Commanders Association is a cooperative effort of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Dobbins Air Reserve Base and Naval Air Station Atlanta. The purpose is to educate the local business community in the Guard’s and Reserve’s role in the total force structure for national defense. The HCA also encourages employers to support employees who are members of the Guard and Reserve as well as foster better understanding and community support of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Air National Guard and Army National Guard.
