The 94th Airlift Wing welcomed Chief Master Sgt. Ericka Kelly, command chief master sergeant, Air Force Reserve Command, on Jan. 5, 2018, here for an official visit to greet Reserve Citizen Airmen, tour base facilities and conduct question and answer sessions.

Kelly spoke with Airmen from various squadrons about the importance of growth in their individual careers. She expressed how growth can help individual Airman and the people that work under them.

“Get out of your bubble and be involved,” said Kelly. “Don’t let fear of the unknown stop you from stepping forward.”

The chief mentioned that having a strong sense of faith, serving in criminal justice for over 20 years and being a single mother were her driving forces. She told Airmen that finding a passion and being willing to sacrifice can lead to fulfillment in a career.

“Rank and money can come secondary to serving,” the chief said. “What are you willing to sacrifice? Everything that we do in uniform is a sacrifice.”

The AFRC command chief also discussed the mutual benefits Airmen receive when they take the time to mentor at each stage of their careers.

There is a distinct value in sharing experiences at a personal level with others, she said.

She also spoke about the many opportunities available within the Air Force for those who have an open mind and flexibility.

“I want Airmen to know they have choices in their careers,” said Kelly. “Take ownership in your career. If you have faith that what someone is telling you is what is needed and want to do something different, people will see something in you and help.”

Kelly is the senior enlisted advisor to the chief of the Air Force Reserve, on all matters concerning the health, morale, welfare and effective management of active duty and reserve enlisted members across the Air Force Reserve. She provides leadership and guidance as the commander's representative to numerous committees, councils, boards, military and civilian functions worldwide.
