Maj. Steven Fortson assumed command of the 94th Maintenance Squadron from Lt. Col. Kerri Ebrecht at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia on Aug. 2.

Before formally relinquishing command, Ebrecht received a Meritorious Service Medal Award for her service in leading the operations of the 94th Airlift Wing’s largest maintenance process through managing, training and serving 124 personnel in support of eight C-130H2 aircraft, as well as several other accomplishments.

Col. Augusto Casado, 94th Maintenance Group commander, expects Ebricht’s new position as wing self-assessment manager with the Inspector General of Inspections to be a positive move for both her career and the future success of the wing as a whole.

“This is a time of celebration for Ebricht’s achievements and Fortson’s upcoming achievements,” said Casado. “Ebricht is moving on to bigger and better things that will help the Maintenance Squadron as much as they help the Maintenance Group, but she’s going to help this whole wing in her new position.”

“I’m so proud of how far we’ve come together, and I’m so excited for Fortson to share the great things that [the squadron] has accomplished,” said Ebrecht. “If he is given the same support that was given to me, he’ll continue to lead the unit to even greater success.”

Fortson plans to find success with the unit through capitalizing on the increased demand for highly-skilled Reservists to support their active-duty counterparts.

“Active-duty members cannot do their mission without the guard and reserve,” Fortson said. “It is my responsibility – our responsibility – to make sure we have kept our ‘combat edge’ so we can go when we’re called to go.”
