Robins Air Force Base will host the Thunder Over Georgia Air Show featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Oct. 1 & 2.

"We are very excited about this event. This is a great opportunity for the Air Force and Robins Air Force Base to thank Americans across the southeast for their continuous support for the military," said Col. Jeff King, Installation commander.

The Thunderbirds have the privilege and responsibility to perform for people all around the world, displaying the pride, precision and professionalism of American Airmen. As the jets take to the skies and fly only a few feet from wingtip to wingtip, the crowd gets a glimpse of the awesome skills and capabilities that all fighter pilots must possess.

Along with the Thunderbirds, the show will also include the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team, known as the Black Daggers, warbird acts such as Commemorative Air Force, and civilian acts such as Patty Wagstaff plus others.

The air show will also feature a kid zone, static displays, and informational booths.

The last Robins Air Show was in 2012 when the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, headlined the event, which drew a crowd of nearly 200,000 people over a two day-period.

The Thunder Over Georgia Air Show is free and open to the public.

Gates open at 9 a.m.
