Master Sgt. Charles McKenzie, 94th Maintenance Squadron electro environmental technician, was honored for 33 years of military service during a retirement ceremony Aug. 3, 2014.

McKenzie began his military career in the U.S. Navy. Since 2004, he has been a member of the 94th MXS, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga.

"It has been a pleasant 10 years at Dobbins," said McKenzie. "I've seen a lot of old guys come through, and now I guess I'm one of them."

Lt. Col. Kerri Ebrecht, 94th Maintenance Squadron commander, expressed appreciation for his hard work and service to the squadron.

"It's people like Charles McKenzie that make my job fun," Ebrecht said. "He's here to support our mission, and he always puts forth the effort."

McKenzie's maintained electrical systems aboard C-130s, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. He thanked his family for their dedication to him and also spoke of his time at the MXS.

"It's not about the time you've spent but the lives you've touch," said McKenzie. I hope I've touched a lot of lives."

McKenzie has been an integral part in the maintenance squadron's recent large-scale aircraft transition from C-130 Hercules H2 models to H3 models.
