MARIETTA, Ga. -- Saturday, June 30, 2018 will mark the C-5 aircraft's 50th Anniversary of its first takeoff from Dobbins Air Force Base, Georgia on June, 30, 1968. The aircraft can carry more than 88 tons of cargo anywhere in the world. The last C-5M to be delivered for operational use sits near the Dobbins Air Reserve Base airfield, at a Lockheed Martin hangar.
