DOBBINS AIR RESERVE BASE, Ga. -- Runners of Dobbins rejoice.

The base track is now reopened and looks better than ever thanks to a facelift it received as important renovations were done.

The renovation process lasted about a month as crews worked quickly to have it repaved and restriped. The track also now features stenciled Air Force logos at various spots around the track.

“The track was severely worn out in the testing lanes, so we wanted to take proactive measures to ensure runners remain safe,” said Kenneth Duhart, 94th Airlift Wing exercise physiologist.

While the track was out of commission, physical fitness tests were conducted at nearby Life University’s track. Runners from the November unit training assembly, however, returned to put the new track through its paces.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Nov. 5 to officially reopen the base track. Col. Marty Hughes, 94th Mission Support Group commander, was given the honor of cutting the ribbon at the ceremony attended by other wing leadership and Airmen taking their physical fitness tests.

In addition to being used for physical fitness tests, the base track is also open to members of Dobbins for daily exercise.
